St. Mary's, Eastwell

The story of Richard of Eastwell is fascinating. Some say he was the unowned, but not abandoned, child of King Richard III. A privately, well educated, lad who believed he was orphaned but who regularly received anonymous funds for his upkeep in the care of the local schoolmaster. One day he was called upon and taken to see Richard III, who told him he was his father. The next day Richard III was killed in the Battle of Bosworth Field. Richard of Eastwell returned to Eastwell where he became a skilled bricklayer.

Another source asserts that he was the younger of the "Princes in the Tower". The latter account asserts neither prince was murdered, with both living out their lives in anonymity, Richard in Eastwell as a bricklayer and the elder Brother, King Edward V, living in Coldridge, Devon.
